Track Record on Golf Courses Since 2006
The first European-made solar-powered golf cars started to circulate in December 2005 at the well-known golf course Quinta da Ria, in Tavira, Portugal.
By that time, SolarCar’s concept was conceived and built in the center of Portugal, Europe, by some of the greatest solar experts from Portugal, with vast knowledge of the Solar Energy sector.
As soon as the word was out that the golf cars were performing miraculously well – thanks to a unique, secret combination of the latest technology – the requests came to SolarCar from all over the world like a waterfall. Chile, Brazil, France, the USA, Spain, and many more assured that SolarCar invented an utterly innovative product.
Because the adapted prototypes indeed exceeded all expectations, Quinta da Ria commissioned SolarCar in 2006 to adapt the rest of their golf car fleet, which was exhibited to a select group of special guests in June 2007, among which was a particular special guest, and friend of the founders of SolarCar, His Royal Highness Dom Duarte Duke of Braganza, from the Portuguese Royal House. The whole event has led to increased interest among investors, and has brought several proposals of partnerships in the rest of the world.
Then the company moved in 2006 to a golf-course rich environment: the South of Portugal, The Algarve. And finally, in 2009, SolarCar moved its headquarters away from Portugal, to The Hague, The Netherlands, Europe and its International Airport Schiphol.
As the number of golf courses is increasing in the world, and their interest in a solid Green Image is becoming stronger day by day, the adaptation of golf cars represents the most important activity within the SolarCar enterprise.
